Manchester City produced a spirited second-half response against Paris Saint-Germain, with Erling Haaland scoring twice in an entertaining encounter. The match also comes ahead of City’s reported 5-3 victory over Sunderland, where Antoine Semenyo’s brace secured a thrilling win.
PSG started strongly, with Désiré Doué opening the scoring in the 13th minute before Ousmane Dembélé doubled their advantage two minutes later. Vitinha added a third in the 32nd minute, leaving City with a difficult task at the break.
City responded after half-time as Haaland headed home Iliman Ndiaye’s cross in the 53rd minute. PSG restored their attacking threat through Maghnes Akliouche in the 63rd minute, but Haaland struck again ten minutes later after a pass from Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Enzo Fernández involved in the build-up.
City continued pushing for an equaliser, but their late opportunity from the penalty spot was wasted when Ferran Torres saw his effort saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma. Despite City’s second-half improvement, PSG held on through the closing minutes.
Softfootball noticed that Haaland’s finishing and City’s tactical adjustments helped them recover after a difficult first half. However, PSG’s early attacking efficiency proved decisive, while Donnarumma’s late penalty save helped preserve his side’s advantage.
