Man United Rejects Shock Deadline Day Bid for Teen Star

Manchester United has dismissed a last-minute transfer bid from Italian club Como for teenage forward Gabriele Biancheri. The 18-year-old, who joined the Red Devils from Cardiff City in 2023, has been making waves in the club’s youth setup with his goal-scoring prowess. However, he has yet to break into the senior squad.

Biancheri has also been impressing on the international stage, netting a hat-trick for Wales’ Under-19 team last November. His performances have drawn attention from abroad, with Como reportedly making an approach on transfer deadline day, according to Mail Plus.

United, however, showed no interest in entertaining the offer. The club sees Biancheri as a key talent for the future and is eager to keep him in their system. The bid from Italy also sparked intrigue, as the young striker—born in Cardiff—has Italian heritage and remains eligible to represent Italy at the senior level. Although he has only played for Wales at youth level, he still has the option to switch allegiance.

While there is no indication that Biancheri is considering a change, the Italian club’s interest has fueled speculation that it could be an attempt to influence his international future. The forward is also eligible to play for England, potentially setting up a three-way battle for his commitment in the coming years.

For now, Biancheri will continue his development at United, unlike some of his academy teammates who secured loan moves in January. Dan Gore (Rotherham), Ethan Williams (Cheltenham), and Ethan Ennis (Doncaster) have all been sent out for valuable first-team experience.

Meanwhile, United’s senior squad has also seen notable exits, with Marcus Rashford joining Aston Villa and Antony heading to Real Betis on loan. Additionally, Tyrell Malacia is expected to finalize a temporary move to PSV before the Dutch transfer window closes on Tuesday.
