Manchester United’s patience with Alejandro Garnacho appears to have reached its limit following a controversial social media post. While enjoying his off-season in Ibiza, the winger uploaded a photo of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt, curiously printed with Marcus Rashford’s name. The move reportedly infuriated United officials, sparking further questions about the 20-year-old’s future at Old Trafford.
The club is now reportedly willing to part ways with Garnacho, slashing his asking price from £60 million to closer to £45 million. The reduced fee is motivated not only by the controversy but also by the opportunity to generate pure profit under the Premier League’s financial regulations, boosting United’s sustainability numbers.

The winger’s relationship with manager Ruben Amorim deteriorated following the Europa League final, where Garnacho was benched. His dissatisfaction spilled into public view, and his agent and brother joined in criticizing Amorim. The head coach returned fire in a press conference, suggesting a deep divide within the camp.
Despite making 144 appearances and recording 26 goals and 22 assists, Garnacho seems to have no place in Amorim’s tactical plans. The Portuguese manager favors a formation with two narrow number 10s, limiting opportunities for traditional wide players like the Argentina international.
Interest in the young attacker remains high, with clubs like Chelsea, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa, and Tottenham monitoring the situation closely. Given his age, attacking flair, and productivity—11 goals and 10 assists in 58 games last season—Garnacho remains a valuable asset for clubs seeking creativity on the flanks.
However, his attitude has been a recurring concern during his senior tenure at United. The latest stunt has only added fuel to that fire, reinforcing the belief that a fresh start may benefit both player and club. While Rashford is also set to leave, potentially on another loan spell, Garnacho’s chapter at Manchester United may be closing permanently.
