Manchester United are exploring a potential move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as they aim to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season. The 24-year-old, currently starring for Dortmund in the Club World Cup, has caught the attention of the Red Devils following a solid debut season with the Bundesliga side.

Nmecha, who joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023, has made 68 appearances in all competitions, tallying eight goals and five assists. His performances have not only helped his team advance in the Club World Cup but have also sparked interest from Premier League clubs, particularly from Old Trafford.

Reports indicate that United are serious about their interest, but Borussia Dortmund are determined to hold onto the German international. Journalist Christian Falk noted that while Nmecha has Premier League appeal—thanks to his English fluency and familiarity with Manchester from his youth days at Manchester City—BVB are unwilling to entertain offers at this stage.

The midfielder’s Premier League ties stem from his time at Manchester City, where he progressed through the youth ranks and made three senior appearances before moving to Wolfsburg. He eventually secured a transfer to Dortmund, where he’s established himself as a dynamic, powerful presence in midfield.

With Christian Eriksen set to depart and Bruno Fernandes expected to play deeper, United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly looking to inject more pace and strength into the midfield. Although United have other central options in Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer, there’s room for a player with Nmecha’s profile.

The Red Devils are expected to remain persistent, hoping to convince Dortmund to consider a deal despite their reluctance. Nmecha’s Premier League-ready background and physical attributes make him a strong candidate for the new-look midfield United are trying to build under Amorim’s leadership.
