Antoine Semenyo’s impressive campaign has sparked transfer interest from several Premier League clubs, but Bournemouth’s £65 million price tag is halting progress.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian international found the net 13 times and provided seven assists in 42 appearances last season, cementing his role under manager Andoni Iraola. His versatility across the frontline makes him an attractive target for clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham, and Liverpool.
Tottenham have reportedly made an initial approach but aren’t moving forward due to the Cherries’ valuation. Similarly, Manchester United, who have just signed Matheus Cunha, are hesitant to enter negotiations given the high cost. Spurs, meanwhile, recently secured Mathys Tel permanently, reducing their immediate urgency for another forward.
Semenyo, who arrived at Bournemouth from Bristol City for £10 million in 2023, has four years remaining on his contract. The club is in a strong negotiating position, especially after raking in £90 million this summer from player sales, including Milos Kerkez to Liverpool and Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.
Liverpool had also shown interest but are expected to pull back amid an ongoing spending spree that includes high-profile targets like Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. With Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi also on their radar, the Reds may not revisit Semenyo unless the price drops significantly.
In addition to Semenyo, Bournemouth have drawn interest for other talents. They recently turned down two bids from PSG for centre-back Illia Zabarnyi, the most recent being £55 million, as they rate the Ukrainian at over £70 million.
Despite multiple enquiries, it appears Bournemouth are in no rush to cash in on their star attacker, and unless potential suitors are willing to match the valuation, Semenyo may remain on the South Coast for another season.
