Harry Maguire has expressed confidence in securing a contract extension with Manchester United, as negotiations continue over his future beyond June 2026, Softfootball reports.

In comments shared by Fabrizio Romano via his official X channel, the England international indicated that a new deal will depend on him maintaining a key role within the squad.

Romano posted:

Harry Maguire on new deal: “There’s been talks. I think we’ll reach an agreement where it’s best for the club and myself”. “The club want me to drive the club forward still, and they feel like I’ve got a big part to play”, told @MrDomSmith on The Standard.

Earlier reports suggest that the club is preparing a two-year extension until 2027, with an option to extend further to 2028, highlighting renewed trust in the defender following a strong resurgence this season.

Under manager Michael Carrick, Maguire has reestablished himself as a reliable presence in defense, recording an 86% pass accuracy and contributing important defensive actions. His improved form comes at a crucial time, with injuries affecting key defenders such as Lisandro Martínez and Matthijs de Ligt, increasing his importance within the squad.

In another quote shared by Romano, Maguire also hinted at a significant summer ahead for the club, expressing confidence in the leadership to make the right decisions in both recruitment and structural planning.

Harry Maguire: “It’s going to be a BIG summer. We know that for Manchester United”. “It’s going to be a big recruitment in the management department, and I’m sure that the hierarchy will get it right”, told The Standard.

Fan reactions have shifted positively, with many praising his leadership qualities and aerial dominance as United prepare for a key rebuilding phase.
