Myles Lewis-Skelly has officially signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, committing his future to the club until 2030. The 18-year-old, who rose from Hale End’s academy, has now expressed his ambition to leave a lasting legacy at his boyhood club.

The new deal comes after a breakout 2024–25 season in which Lewis-Skelly transformed from a squad fringe player to Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back. Initially a midfielder, he made 39 appearances across all competitions and capped his year with a goal in a dominant 5-1 win over Manchester City and two assists in the Champions League.

His rapid progress allowed him to surpass senior players like Riccardo Calafiori, Kieran Tierney, and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the defensive hierarchy. Real Madrid were reportedly circling, but the new contract quashes all transfer speculation for now.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Lewis-Skelly shared his joy: “I’m so proud and happy. Signing for this club is a dream come true. I’ve come through Hale End, and I just want to stay humble, keep learning, and win everything there is to win.” He added: “I want to leave a legacy. I’ve taken a lot from my experiences—both positive and from mistakes—and I feel more ready than ever for next season.”

Already a three-cap England international, Lewis-Skelly is expected to be part of Gareth Southgate’s plans for the 2026 World Cup.

Arsenal’s Contract Focus Turns to More Renewals
Sporting director Andrea Berta has now completed his second key contract extension this summer following Gabriel Magalhaes’s renewal. However, there’s more work ahead at the Emirates.

Next on the agenda is Ethan Nwaneri, another Hale End gem, whose current deal also expires in 2026. Talks are reportedly ongoing to secure the teenager on a long-term agreement.

Veteran forward Leandro Trossard is also entering the final year of his contract, but Arsenal are believed to be planning an extension. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli remain under contract until 2027—though Martinelli’s includes a 12-month extension clause.

One player who will not be staying is Thomas Partey. Arsenal’s attempts to renew his contract have reportedly failed, and the Ghanaian midfielder is expected to leave on a free transfer at the end of the month.

Lewis-Skelly’s renewal, however, is a major win for the club, showcasing Arsenal’s continued investment in youth development and securing the future of one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.
