Liverpool have officially confirmed the £40 million signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, marking their fourth acquisition of the summer window. The 21-year-old Hungarian left-back has signed a five-year contract, keeping him at Anfield until 2030, and becomes a key part of Arne Slot’s squad plans.
Speaking to the club’s media, Kerkez expressed joy at joining the Premier League champions:
“It’s a privilege to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to start training and hear the roar at Anfield.”

Kerkez thanked fans for their support even before the deal was made official, promising to give “absolutely everything” to help the Reds win trophies.
Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes, who initially brought Kerkez to Bournemouth, played a major role in reuniting with the defender. New head coach Arne Slot had also prioritized signing a dynamic, aggressive left-back to compete with Andy Robertson—Kerkez fits the profile perfectly.
Kerkez impressed over two seasons at Bournemouth, making 74 appearances since his 2023 arrival from AZ Alkmaar. His technical ability, pace, and attacking intent have made him one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.

While Robertson remains a key figure at Liverpool, the Scot has endured a heavy workload over the past several seasons. Club legend Jamie Carragher had been vocal about the need to sign a backup or potential successor, and Kerkez’s arrival addresses that directly.
“Robertson needs help,”
Carragher noted.
“Kerkez has been superb, aggressive, and a standout since joining the Premier League. Liverpool are smart to move now.”
Bournemouth, anticipating Kerkez’s exit, secured a replacement by signing Adrien Truffert from Rennes for £14.5 million after several rejected bids.
