Fanstribe member KurotAMS, also known as Justus Alfred Hanson Ooniyi Jesu, has spoken openly about his arrest and detention by Moroccan authorities during the AFCON 2025 tournament. Softfootball gathered that he was part of the Fanstribe crew that travelled to Morocco also receiving official AFCON 2025 media accreditation.

In a video posted on his Facebook page after returning to Nigeria, KurotAMS explained how the incident occurred while he was out buying souvenirs a day before his scheduled departure.
“I went out to get souvenirs and sneakers… while waiting for my ride, some military guys approached me and asked for my papers.”
He said he identified himself as Nigerian and explained that his visa and passport were on his phone, but the officers demanded physical documents.
“They said they needed the physical one… I told them it was in my apartment not far from there.”
According to him, the situation escalated quickly.
“Before I knew it, they shoved me into the van. I thought it was a dream… I’ve never been more scared in my life.”
KurotAMS described being driven for over an hour and later taken into a detention facility where he was placed in a cell alongside other African nationals.
“First time in my life I was in a prison… I cried, I asked God why me.”
He said the language barrier worsened the situation, as the officers spoke mainly Arabic and French.
“I was begging, but they were not understanding me.”
After several hours in detention, he said officials eventually released them.
“One of the bosses came and said, ‘You guys can go.’ I was so relieved… thank you God.”
He confirmed that he safely returned to Nigeria with his team and is now physically fine, though the experience left a lasting impact.
“That was not a funny experience at all. I wouldn’t even wish that on my enemy.”
