Bayern Munich lifted the first silverware of the 2025/26 season on Saturday evening, beating VfB Stuttgart 2-1 at the MHPArena to claim the inaugural Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. Softfootball reports that it was a night charged with emotion, as the competition, renamed in December 2024 to honour the late Bayern and Germany legend, paid fitting tribute to Der Kaiser.
Bayern Munich’s official X handle posted a video of the team lifting the trophy after the hard-fought victory.
Watch Bayern lift the trophy:
Harry Kane, never shy of punishing Stuttgart, opened the scoring midway through the first half. A loose touch from Luca Jaquez was all the invitation the Englishman needed; one quick stride, a measured strike from the edge of the box, and Bayern were in front.
After the victory, Harry Kane addressed fans after winning his second official title with Bayern Munich. He and the trophy were inseparable, and Bayern had to post his excitement on their official X account.

Far from crumbling, Stuttgart rallied, forcing Manuel Neuer into several saves that reminded everyone why the veteran remains one of the world’s best. Deniz Undav, Josha Vagnoman, and Nick Woltemade all saw efforts denied by Bayern’s skipper, who was later voted Man of the Match by Bundesliga fans.
The second half saw chances at both ends. Fabian Bredlow denied Kane a second, while Jamie Leweling thought he had equalized when his deflected drive seemed destined for the net only for Neuer to produce a jaw-dropping reflex stop.
Stuttgart’s hopes of a comeback, however, were undone with 12 minutes left. New signing Luis Díaz, making his competitive debut, rose above his marker to head in Serge Gnabry’s teasing cross, sparking wild celebrations in the Bayern end. The Colombian star, who joined from Liverpool, did the iconic Diogo Jota celebration in memory of the late Portuguese superstar.
Leweling did manage a late consolation, heading home after Chema Andrés kept a move alive, but by then the damage was done. Bayern closed out the match to secure their record-extending 11th Supercup trophy and extend their unbeaten domestic away run to 10 games.

For Stuttgart, which ended last season with a shaky home record, it was another night of frustration despite flashes of promise. For Vincent Kompany, though, it’s another trophy in Bavaria since taking over and the first Franz Beckenbauer Supercup now rests in the Allianz Arena cabinet.
