Gabriel Jesus continued his outstanding run of form by scoring twice as Arsenal produced a commanding 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The Brazilian striker wasted little time making his mark, opening the scoring inside six minutes before Ismaila Sarr briefly restored parity for the hosts with a superb long-range effort.
Softfootball notes Jesus responded in style by restoring Arsenal’s lead in the 25th minute, setting the tone for another dominant attacking display from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Kai Havertz extended the Gunners’ advantage before Gabriel Martinelli added a fourth shortly after the hour mark following good work from Declan Rice.
Rice then capped an excellent individual performance with a fine curled finish in the closing stages to complete an emphatic victory.
The result came just days after Jesus netted a hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, taking his tally to five goals in two matches against the Eagles. Arsenal’s convincing win also strengthened their push near the top of the Premier League table.
