Isak is ready to leave Newcastle as Liverpool drops in bid

Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle United of his desire to explore a move away from the club this summer.

Softfootball understands that the Swedish forward, who scored 25 goals across all competitions last season, has grown increasingly open to a new challenge amid interest from top clubs in England and abroad.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, shared on his X handle the growing interest of Liverpool to move Isak from St. James Park.

He wrote:

“Understand Alexander Isak remains a target for Liverpool even after signing Ekitike… but it depends on Newcastle.

“If Newcastle open doors to an exit and #LFC sell Diaz, they can bid after direct contact made 10 days ago.

Isak, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 in concrete talks with Al Hilal so far.”

Isak, 24, remains under a long-term contract at St. James’ Park, and Newcastle are not under pressure to sell. However, his intention to assess options has been communicated internally, with sources describing the mood as “respectful but clear.”

The striker has previously attracted interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea, while clubs in Spain are also monitoring the situation. His technical ability, pace, and finishing make him a highly valued profile in the market.

Newcastle signed Isak from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a then club-record fee. Since then, he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players.

Manager Eddie Howe is believed to want to keep Isak at the centre of his project, but the Magpies may face a battle if a substantial offer arrives in the coming weeks.

For now, Liverpool is the only interested club for Isak’s signing. But with weeks remaining in the transfer window, Isak’s stance could trigger a domino effect.

Meanwhile, Softfootball can confirm that Liverpool is still showing interest despite Hugo Ekitike’s arrival. The Reds are assessing their options in attack and view Isak as a player who could bring mobility and a clinical edge under Arne Slot’s new era.
