Ademola Lookman is increasingly close to joining Inter Milan as the Serie A giants have tabled a new offer for the Atalanta’s star. The Nigerian international, who exploded onto the scene two seasons ago in Italy could leave Nerazzurri to strengthen their rival team now coached by Cristian Eugen Chivu.
The UEFA Champions League finalists have made the 27-year-old versatile attacker their primary target despite doubts from their former captain. Inter have already agreed to personal terms with Lookman to move to San Siro on a five-year deal that’ll see him earn €4m annually.
The bid presented on Tuesday falls short of Atalanta’s €50 million valuation, with no agreement reached as the Nerazzurri push to secure their priority target before the transfer window’s critical days conclude on July 30.
But now according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, Inter Milan have submitted a fresh proposal to Atalanta for the Nigerian forward. The offer is reportedly valued at €40 million, with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons.
Romano said:
“Inter have presented new bid to Atalanta for Ademola Lookman today.
:Offer worth €40m plus €5m add-ons.
“Atalanta insist on higher fee, no agreement yet between the two clubs at this stage”.
Following a rejected €40 million bid earlier this month, Inter’s latest proposal aims to bridge the gap, but Atalanta’s firm stance has stalled talks. Now it’s up to them to decide. They can either accept the proposal or walk away from the negotiating table. However, it would probably result in unrest inside the locker room.
Indeed, Ademola Lookman has already informed La Dea of his intention to join the Nerazzurri. Therefore, Atalanta would have to run the risk of having an unhappy player in the squad next season if the deal collapses. Lookman’s stance could also change if Inter fail to close the deal this week, opening door to other suitors.
