Inter Milan have officially called off the proposed transfer of Alessandro Bastoni to Barcelona. Speaking to DAZN, the Inter president made it clear that Bastoni was never pushing for an exit and that the club had no intention of selling him.
Here was his statement:
“I think our fans can be relaxed with Bastoni situation. He never asked to leave, he’s so happy here and we’re not a selling club.”
“I believe Bastoni will stay with us.”
Softfootball is trying to understand the reason behind the collapse of this transfer, especially as Barcelona have just completed the signing of Anthony Gordon for around €70 million, with add‑ons taking the package above €80 million. Although Gordon is a forward and Bastoni is a defender, Barcelona will now have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements after the Bastoni deal fell through.
