Liverpool forward, Hugo Ekitike has expressed delight following Liverpool’s 2-1 win over 9-man Tottenham Hotspur, Softfootball reports.
The Reds defeated Brighton 2-0 last weekend at Anfield and were hoping to follow up the results on Saturday evening while Spurs lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest and hoped for a home win.

After a goalless first half, Alexander Isak opened scoring for Liverpool against 10-man Spurs after Dutch international, Xavi Simons saw red for a risky tackle on Virgil van Dijk , making it the first time a Dutch player has been sent off for a foul on a compatriot in the Premier League since April 2001, when Spurs’ Willem Korsten was red carded after fouling Chelsea’s Mario Melchiot.
Speaking after the match in an interview shared via Liverpool’s official X handle. Ekitike said:
It is the best feeling as a striker. You need goals. The most important is the win and to play with confidence, and obviously if I can help with goals. The first goal I helped with the pass before the assist, so I try to help the team the best as I can and that’s the most important.
With Mohamed Salah focused on AFCON, Hugo Ekitike ensured the Reds didn’t worry for goals as he scored the second goal for the night to make it 2-0 before Spurs Captain, Christian Romero was sent off for a second yellow card.

Hugo Ekitike has now scored five goals in his last three matches for Liverpool as they moved into fifth with 29 points on the premier league table after 17 matches.
