Arsenal are set to land their number one striker target, as a deal has finally been struck for Viktor Gyökeres, Softfootball can confirm.

After weeks of back-and-forth with Sporting CP, the Gunners have reached a verbal agreement with all parties involved to bring the Sweden international to North London.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the final package will see Arsenal pay €63.5 million plus €10 million in add-ons, with the player’s agent agreeing to reduce his commission to help facilitate the move.

BREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.

Sporting accept last bid from Arsenal for €63.5m plus €10m, agent will reduce his commission.

Gyökeres will sign five year deal at #AFC. He ONLY wanted Arsenal.

Gyökeres has made it clear throughout the summer that he only wanted Arsenal, turning down interest from multiple clubs, including Manchester United, in a bid to work under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates. The striker will sign a five-year deal with the North London club.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a standout debut season with Sporting, netting 29 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most prolific centre forwards. His blend of strength, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing has long made him a key target for Arsenal’s recruitment team.

For Arteta, Gyökeres arrives as a long-term solution to Arsenal’s need for a consistent goal-scoring No. 9, offering a new dimension to a front line that includes Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz. His arrival could also see tactical shifts, with the Gunners expected to rotate between a 4-3-3 and a more direct 3-5-2 when required.

The medical is expected to take place within days, with an official unveiling to follow as the club flies out for their pre-season tour in Asia.
