Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has heaped praise on Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri after he opened his Premier League goal account in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Softfootball gahtered that the 17-year-old, who had already found the net in the Carabao Cup this season, caught Hargreaves’ eye with his composure on the ball.

Speaking on Arsenal News Central, Hargreaves said:

Brilliant player. That’s what Ethan is good at, on the half-turn, receiving the ball from anywhere. Great weighted pass and gets himself into a great spot. Look at that. 17. He passes it into the goal, he doesn’t smash it.

Hargreaves also credited Raheem Sterling’s cutback for setting up the goal, but kept coming back to Nwaneri. He said:

This young man is really special. He’s going to be a feature for this Arsenal team for a very long time.

The win snapped a four-game winless run for Arsenal across all competitions, and Nwaneri’s emergence gives Mikel Arteta another option to lean on as the season builds toward its business end.
