Softfootball has gathererd that Hamburg SV are pushing to secure the signing of highly rated 16-year-old striker Andrej Vasiljevic from MTK Budapest, with sporting director Claus Costa personally leading negotiations. This was revealed by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle.

Hamburg who recorded a notable 2–1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg earlier this month, a result that contributed to significant changes behind the scenes at Wolfsburg, are keen to move quickly in order to fend off growing interest from top European sides, including Inter Milan, Benfica, and Borussia Dortmund.

Romano reported:

EXCL: Hamburg SV are closing in on deal to sign 16 year old top talent Andrej Vasiljevic. Negotiations advancing to anticipate several clubs for MTK Budapest talent. Hamburg sport director Claus Costa personally lead the mission to sign the striker. Here we go, soon.

Vasiljevic, a Hungary U17 international, has gained attention for his prolific scoring record at youth level despite his young age, having already signed a professional contract with MTK.

The German club’s aggressive pursuit reflects a broader strategy to identify and secure emerging talent across Eastern Europe before larger clubs intervene. The club’s leadership is determined to strengthen its long-term project through youth development.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United have opened talks to extend the contract of promising midfielder Lewis Miley following their heavy defeat to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
