Viktor Gyökeres continues to push for a move to Arsenal, with Softfootball sources confirming the striker remains determined to secure a switch to North London this summer despite fresh attempts to divert his future elsewhere.
The Swedish international has made it clear he only wants Arsenal, rejecting yet another approach facilitated by intermediaries this week. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Tuesday morning that Manchester United was once again offered the opportunity to bid for the striker by figures close to Sporting CP, but Gyökeres immediately rebuffed the idea.

He wrote on his X handle that:
“Manchester United have been offered again the chance by intermediaries close to Sporting to bid for Viktor Gyökeres, the same as last week.Clear answer once again from Viktor: he wants to join Arsenal; his only desire… he keeps fighting for that ❤️🤍”
While Gyökeres has held firm, Sporting CP’s negotiating stance remains a major hurdle. The Portuguese club are reportedly unwilling to entertain Arsenal’s current proposal of €73.5m and is holding out for the full €100 million release clause. With no breakthrough in sight, the Gunners are now evaluating whether to match the fee or explore creative alternatives, potentially including player exchanges or structured payments.
Gyökeres, who scored 43 goals in all competitions last season, is seen by Mikel Arteta as a perfect addition to lead the line, bringing physicality, pressing intensity, and a goal threat to a team pushing for the Premier League title.
The 26-year-old is currently in preseason with Sporting but is said to be growing frustrated with the club’s reluctance to facilitate his preferred move. Arsenal remain hopeful that his insistence could help turn the tide in negotiations.
With less than two months to go before the transfer window closes, the pressure is mounting on all sides. One thing, however, is clear: Viktor Gyökeres stands firm with Arsenal.
