Genoa president Alberto Zangrillo has moved quickly to shut down speculation of tension between new head coach Patrick Vieira and striker Mario Balotelli, dismissing reports of a personality clash before it could become a distraction.
Softfootball learnt that the rumors stemmed from claims that Vieira forced Balotelli out during their time together at OGC Nice, with suggestions of a similar falling-out dating back to their days at Manchester City.

Zangrillo rejected that narrative outright, telling reporters:
Mario is an intelligent person and I am sure that the new coach is too. They will hug in front of me, I am sure that they will get along very well.

The comments come as Vieira settles into his new role following Alberto Gilardino’s exit, with the club eager to present a united front as the Frenchman looks to turn around a difficult Serie A campaign.
Whether the chemistry plays out as smoothly as Zangrillo predicts will likely become clear once Vieira finalizes his squad plans.
