Garnacho hints at United future amid Chelsea transfer links

Alejandro Garnacho has strongly hinted that he will remain at Manchester United, despite persistent interest from Chelsea.

The London club explored the possibility of signing the Argentine winger earlier in the January transfer window, even though their attacking lineup is already well-stocked under Enzo Maresca.

Reports suggested that a potential deal could have involved Christopher Nkunku heading to Old Trafford.

However, Garnacho seems to have dismissed the speculation, reassuring United supporters of his dedication to the club.

As the Red Devils prepare for Friday’s clash with Leicester City, he took to Instagram on deadline day, posting a somber image from United’s recent defeat alongside the caption: “We will try again Friday…”

United, under Ruben Amorim, suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, leaving them in 13th place in the Premier League standings.

Garnacho, once considered one of United’s brightest young talents, has seen his role fluctuate over the past year.

His omission from December’s Manchester derby—alongside Marcus Rashford—sparked concerns about his future at the club.

While Rashford has since been sidelined entirely and loaned to Aston Villa to revive his career, Garnacho has managed to turn things around.

Chelsea and Napoli were reportedly monitoring his situation late in the window, but unless something dramatic happens, he now appears set to stay at United.

Manager Ruben Amorim recently praised Garnacho for his response to being left out of the squad, emphasizing how the winger has adapted to his coaching style.

“Since that game against City, he’s changed completely,” Amorim said. “He understands that my demands are never personal—they’re about helping him improve and helping the team win.”

Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku, despite speculation linking him with moves to Bayern Munich and Manchester United, ultimately remained at Chelsea, where his playing time under Maresca has been limited.
