Garnacho accused of snubbing young fan after FA Cup loss

A viral social media clip has sparked controversy after Alejandro Garnacho appeared to ignore a young Manchester United fan’s request for an autograph. The incident occurred outside Old Trafford following United’s FA Cup exit against Fulham, a game that ended in heartbreak after a penalty shootout defeat.

Garnacho, who started the match on the bench and was subbed on in the 52nd minute, did not take a penalty in the shootout. As he left the stadium in his white 4×4 Range Rover, a young supporter eagerly approached his car window, holding a pen and notepad while pleading, “Garnacho, please.”

Another angle of the incident has surfaced, suggesting he may have actually stopped briefly before rolling up his window. The clip’s circulation has divided fans, with many questioning whether he intentionally ignored the request or if it was an unfortunate misunderstanding.

The 20-year-old winger, however, seemed focused on his mobile phone and did not acknowledge the fan, leading to criticism on social media. Some believe Garnacho simply didn’t notice the child, as he appeared to be engaged in conversation with someone inside his vehicle at the time.

Garnacho has built a reputation for engaging with supporters, often taking time to sign autographs and pose for photos at Old Trafford and United’s training ground. Several fans defended him, insisting that he is usually generous with his time and interactions.

One supporter argued, “Garnacho is great with fans, this seems unlikely. If true, he’d probably find the fan and make it up to them with a ticket or something.” Another recalled seeing him in Altrincham, where he reportedly signed numerous autographs despite being out with his family.

Garnacho’s reaction was initially seen as frustration, but it later emerged that he simply wanted to change into a dry shirt due to the cold conditions. With emotions running high after United’s FA Cup disappointment, this latest incident has only added to the scrutiny surrounding the Argentine talent.

The United winger recently made headlines for another off-field moment when he reportedly invited teammates to dinner as an apology. His gesture followed criticism for heading straight down the tunnel after being subbed off during United’s 3-2 win over Ipswich Town.
