Gabriel Jesus Back on Arsenal’s UCL Squad Ahead of Crucial Brugge Clash

2 Min Read

Arsenal supporters have been handed a major boost ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League fixture, with the club confirming that Gabriel Jesus has been reinstated into their UEFA A list. The Brazilian striker, who recently said he is “feeling great” after recovering from his longest-ever injury spell, is now eligible to feature in the squad once again.

Softfootball earlier reported that Jesus was initially excluded from the Champions League list to accommodate rising star Max Dowman. However, the situation has now reversed after the teenage midfielder suffered a serious ankle injury while playing for the U21s, forcing Arsenal to make an immediate adjustment.

According to the Club Statement Shared via Arsenal’s official X handle, which explained the latest development saying:

Gabriel Jesus has replaced Max Dowman on our UEFA A list with immediate effect.
Therefore, Gabby is eligible to play in our match against Club Brugge in Belgium on Wednesday night. Max, who picked up an ankle injury playing for our under-21s on Saturday, will be added to our UEFA B list in January, but will not be permitted to play in any UEFA competitions for 60 days from today (February 6).

With Arsenal set to face Club Brugge tomorrow, Jesus will be hoping he makes the traveling squad as he aims to play a vital role in the Gunners’ push for European success. His return comes at a perfect time, offering Mikel Arteta another attacking option just as the knockout rounds approach.
