Former Manchester City star Adedire Mebude set to join Rizespor on a 4.5-year deal

Former Manchester City player, Adedire Mebude is set to join Rizespor on a 4.5-year deal after deal was agreed with Belgium side, Westerlo, Softfootball understands.

Mebude could not break into the first team at Manchester City because of strong competitions and left for Westerlo from where he spent time on loan at English Championship side Bristol and then Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV before his latest move to Turkey. He must have watched Manchester City beat Newcastle 2-0 in the semi-final first leg of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the deal is done and the player is on his way to the Turkish Super Lig. He revealed:

Rizespor agree deal to sign former Manchester City player Adedire Mebude from Westerlo on 4.5-year deal. Deal done with with agent David Moss as all documents have been signed today.

Manchester City just signed Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, so Pep Guardiola clearly had no plans of bring Adedire Mebude back to the club despite him enjoying some fine form in Germany during his loan spell with Hamburger SV.

Mebude is a skilful forward with blistering pace and renowned for his goalscoring ability. He was named Manchester City’s academy player’s player of the year for the 2021–22 season. He has represented Scotland at youth international levels up to the U21s. He is also eligible to represent England and Nigeria.
