Cesc Fabregas has emerged as the frontrunner to become AC Milan’s next head coach, with growing uncertainty surrounding Sergio Conceicao’s future following the club’s recent struggles in Serie A.
Back-to-back league defeats to Torino and Bologna have left the Rossoneri outside the Champions League qualification places, increasing pressure on Conceicao. Softfootball understands the club’s hierarchy has already begun assessing possible replacements ahead of next season.
According to reports in Italy, Fabregas has impressed Milan officials with the work he has done at Como. The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder guided the club to promotion and has continued to earn praise for his possession-based style and tactical approach in Serie A.
His philosophy is said to align with Milan’s long-term vision, making him the preferred candidate ahead of several experienced coaches. Maurizio Sarri and Roberto De Zerbi have also been linked with the role, but Fabregas is reportedly leading the race.
Should the Spaniard secure the job, he would become the new manager of Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze, who has made 20 appearances and scored two goals for Milan this season. However, the club has yet to make any official decision regarding Conceicao’s future.
