He noted that accepting a lack of intensity in training contributed to their previous failure, and he expects every player to give their maximum effort to improve as a unit during this critical period of the season.
He explained his stance by stating:
We were honest to each other that our standards were not high enough. We were not demanding enough from each other. We were not ruthless enough. Maybe we accepted a little bit the lack of intensity. We accepted that players don’t give 100% in training and therefore we said to each other we need to commit now.
The German coach emphasized that actions on the pitch matter more than words, calling for a strong reaction in front of their home fans. He believes that maintaining calm and focusing on basic principles will help the team recover from the setback and prove their worth to the public.
