Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has warned that Galatasaray’s hopes of winning the Turkish Super Lig could suffer a major setback if Victor Osimhen leaves the club during the January transfer window.

The Nigeria international has enjoyed a sensational start to life in Istanbul since arriving on loan from Napoli, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in just 11 league appearances. Softfootball understands Osimhen’s impressive form has attracted interest from several top European clubs ahead of the winter transfer window.

Engin believes losing the Super Eagles striker midway through the season would significantly weaken Galatasaray’s chances of retaining the league title.

He said:

If Osimhen leaves Galatasaray in January, the balance in the championship race may be disrupted.

Galatasaray currently lead the Turkish Super Lig standings and will be hoping to keep hold of their star forward as they continue their pursuit of another domestic crown.
