Emerson Royal have reportedly giving a nod to Flamengo’s proposal of signing the right-back from AC Milan as the Brazilian club are hoping to secure the 26-year-old as a direct replacement for Wesley Franca who is negotiating a move to Roma.
Softfootball understands that finding a new right-back has become a priority for Flamengo, and Emerson’s name has long been on the club’s radar.

Transfer Expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development in a post shared on his X handle. He wrote:
“Emerson Royal said yes to the proposal received from Flamengo!
“Flamengo now expected to seal Emerson deal with AC Milan today as talks are well advanced.
“…and Wesley, to AS Roma.”
Emerson Royal has had a well travelled career so far, featuring for Atlético Mineiro, Barcelona, Real Betis, Tottenham, and most recently Milan. His progress last season was interrupted, having been sidelined since January with a calf injury.
With negotiations ongoing and Emerson yet to appear for Milan this year due to injury, both player and club face decisive days ahead. For Flamengo, the pursuit has taken on extra urgency as Wesley edges closer to an exit.
Royal can be a good addition to Flamengo. The Brazilian brings strong defensive skills and high work rate, as shown during his time at Real Betis and Tottenham. With 10 assists in two La Liga seasons and four goals and two assists in 79 games for Tottenham.
Royal offers both stability and attacking support. The ex-Barcelona player can be relied on for passing and versatility, both of which can make a him a valuable asset for Flamengo.
