Cole Palmer is now ready to feature in a match for 90 minutes, according to Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, Softfootball reports.
The England international was involved last week when Chelsea battled to a 2-2 draw against Newcastle in the Premier League Match-Day 17 at Saint James’ Park.

Fabrizio Romano shared Maresca’s interview on Palmer via his official X handle as Chelsea prepare for Saturday clash against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. The Italian said:
I think Cole is ready to play 90 minutes, yes. He played for an hour against Everton, then he did more than 70 minutes against Newcastle. So I think the progression is there, he’s feeling good and I think he could play for 90 minutes now. It will be a very tough game for us and we will have to be at our best because Aston Villa are playing very well. They have a clear way of playing and they are very organised both on and off the ball. They are full of confidence in this moment, but we are at home and we will be trying to get the three points as we always do. We will work hard and continue to grow.
Palmer said in a recent interview that he is not fully fit as he has returned to partial training and is being eased back into match fitness, with Maresca now indicating he is ready for 90 minutes action.

Palmer suffered a groin injury in August 2025, which forced him to miss several games. The injury proved more delicate than initially expected, requiring a careful management plan to prevent a more serious setback requiring surgery. While recovering from the groin problem, in November 2025, Palmer had a “freak” accident at home where he broke his left little toe by hitting it against a door. This second injury further delayed his return to full fitness.
Palmer has scored 43 goals with 28 assists in 97 appearances for Chelsea since he joined the club in 2023 from Manchester City.
