Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze will begin a new chapter at AC Milan following the appointment of Sérgio Conceição as the club’s new head coach, Softfootball reports.
The Serie A giants confirmed Conceição’s arrival on Monday, announcing that the Portuguese tactician has signed a contract that will keep him at the San Siro until June 30, 2026. He succeeds compatriot Paulo Fonseca, whose spell in charge ended after just six months.
Fonseca’s departure came in the wake of Milan’s disappointing 1-1 home draw against Roma, a result that left the Rossoneri eighth in the Serie A standings, 14 points behind leaders Atalanta and Napoli.
In a statement, Milan welcomed Conceição and his coaching staff, expressing confidence that they would guide the club to future success.
The former FC Porto manager inherits a side still competing on multiple fronts. Milan currently occupy 12th place in the revamped UEFA Champions League league phase after recording four wins and two defeats from six matches.
For Chukwueze, the managerial change presents a fresh opportunity to impress under a new coach as he looks to establish himself as a regular starter for the Italian giants during the remainder of the season.
