Chelsea Fans Turn on Nkunku as Blues Crash Out of FA Cup

Chelsea’s FA Cup journey ended in disappointment as Brighton secured a 2-1 comeback victory, leaving fans frustrated with Christopher Nkunku’s underwhelming display.

The Blues initially took the lead when Cole Palmer’s volleyed cross forced an own goal from Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen.

However, their advantage lasted just seven minutes before Georginio Rutter equalized with a header from Joel Veltman’s cross. In the second half, Brighton sealed the win when Kaoru Mitoma coolly chipped Robert Sanchez, a former Brighton player now in Chelsea’s goal.

Despite fielding a strong lineup, Enzo Maresca watched his side continue their poor run of form since mid-December. Nkunku, starting in place of the injured Nicolas Jackson, failed to impress and even drew audible groans from the traveling Chelsea supporters.

The frustration peaked late in the match when Nkunku ignored an open Tyrique George and chose to turn back instead of passing forward. BBC pundit Matt Jarvis noted the disappointment, emphasizing how George was left waiting for a chance to contribute.

Brighton’s victory showcased their resilience and attacking prowess, while Chelsea’s woes deepened with yet another frustrating result.
