Chelsea Facing Tough Champions League Fight Despite Arsenal’s Real Madrid Win Boost

Arsenal’s stunning midweek win over Real Madrid means Premier League teams are now guaranteed five Champions League spots for next season. However, Chelsea remain on shaky ground in their bid to claim one of them.

Cole, speaking on TNT Sports, admitted he’s concerned for his former club, saying:

“Newcastle have a good run-in. I worry for my team Chelsea… there’s been points dropped at home.”

Chelsea will aim to boost their chances on Sunday when they host struggling Ipswich Town, but their remaining fixtures are far from easy. They still face a decisive clash against Newcastle, while competition from Manchester City and others remains fierce.

Fellow pundit Peter Crouch predicted Chelsea would fall short:

“I think Newcastle get fourth and City might sneak in there. If City win the FA Cup and get top five, that’s damage limitation.”

Still, Enzo Maresca remains optimistic. Speaking this week, he said:

“I know when you are Chelsea head coach, you have to win games… I’ve been convinced this squad is good enough. We can close the gap.”

He added:

“We are there [in the top four] – and we’ve been there all season. This club belongs in the Champions League, and we must do everything we can to bring it back.”

Chelsea will also be hoping for a return to form from Cole Palmer, who has been one of their standout players this season.
