Caicedo heads into the tournament as one of Ecuador’s most experienced players, having earned 60 international caps and captained his country on several occasions during a successful qualifying campaign. The midfielder played a key role as Ecuador finished second in the South American qualifiers, recording the fewest defeats and conceding the fewest goals across the competition.

Páez, currently on loan at River Plate, also earned his place in the squad. The 19-year-old has already made 24 appearances for Ecuador, with half of those coming during the World Cup qualification campaign.
Ecuador have been drawn into Group E, where they will face Ivory Coast national football team, Curaçao national football team and Germany national football team as they look to make a strong impression on football’s biggest stage.
Away from international duty, Caicedo’s future at Chelsea also appears increasingly secure. The midfielder is expected to sign a new long-term contract with Chelsea FC, with improved terms and an extension that could keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2033.

Caicedo recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Blues, stating: “I have a contract with my club and I want to become a legend there.” His comments will undoubtedly delight Chelsea supporters as the club continues building around one of its most influential midfielders.
