Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has provided an update on defender Trevoh Chalobah following a suspected ankle ligament sprain sustained during their heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. Softfootball reports.

As revealed on the club’s official website, Rosenior says they are hopeful that the injury Trevoh Chalobah sustained  is not as bad as first feared.

They posted:

Liam Rosenior says the Blues are ‘hoping and praying’ that the injury Trevoh Chalobah sustained in the final minutes of our Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain is not as bad as first feared.

The injury comes amid a difficult period for Chelsea, who were comprehensively beaten 3–0 at Stamford Bridge, sealing an 8–2 aggregate loss to PSG as the French side progressed to the quarter-finals. Having already secured a 5–2 victory in Paris, PSG dominated across both legs, exposing Chelsea’s defensive frailties.

The defeat follows another setback, 1–0 loss to Newcastle United intensifying pressure on Rosenior, who was appointed in January 2026 after the dismissal of Enzo Maresca.

Chalobah was forced off late in the game after a strong challenge, leaving the pitch on a stretcher, with the club now awaiting scan results to determine the severity of the injury. Rosenior expressed cautious optimism, stating that more clarity will be available once medical assessments are completed.

However, despite fans having expressed their fustration and termed chelsea ”World Champions of Disgrace” following their last match, they have also reacted with concern over Chalobah’s condition, widely viewing the academy graduate as one of Chelsea’s most dependable defenders during a challenging campaign marked by inconsistency and defensive issues.
