Scottish champions Celtic have reportedly begun talks with Sevilla over a possible deal for Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Nigerian striker is expected to leave the Spanish club this month after struggling to secure a regular place in Garcia Pimienta’s team since arriving last summer.
Softfootball understands that Celtic are exploring a loan deal for the 28-year-old, with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer but has found it difficult to make a significant impact in LaLiga. He has failed to score in nine league appearances for the club, although he has registered three goals in the Copa del Rey.
Celtic are reportedly willing to pay around £2 million to sign the forward permanently if the loan arrangement proves successful.
A move to Glasgow could also see Iheanacho reunite with Brendan Rodgers, who previously worked with the striker during their time together at Leicester City.
The Nigerian has attracted interest from several clubs in England and across Europe as he considers his next career move.
