Former AC Milan manager Fabio Capello believes Samuel Chukwueze has struggled to make the impact expected of him since joining the club from Villarreal last summer.
The Nigerian winger has managed six goals and four assists across 56 appearances in all competitions for Milan, numbers Capello feels fall short of what was originally envisioned for the player.
Softfootball notes that the Italian coaching legend shared his assessment while speaking to Milan.it. He said:
I think that a tall attacking winger capable of making the difference was essential. In the past, Milan has always pushed more to the left and it would have been useful to balance with a similar player on the right.
Capello was direct in his assessment of Chukwueze’s overall impact so far, suggesting the club still lacks a genuine alternative option. He added:
Unfortunately, Chukwueze has never really clicked and there is no alternative with similar characteristics.
