Softfootball has confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeal Board officially ruled that the Senegal national football team forfeited the AFCON 2025 final, awarding the Morocco national football team a 3–0 victory and the continental title 57 days after the match.
The ruling, made under Article 84, follows Senegal’s decision to walk off the pitch during the chaotic final in Morocco amid disputes over officiating. Initially, Senegal had been celebrated as champions, marking what appeared to be their second Africa Cup of Nations title after their 2021 triumph. However, Morocco’s formal appeal has now led to a dramatic reversal of the result.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s update on his official X handle, CAF’s official statement announced Morocco as winners, overturning one of the most controversial finals in recent football history. The decision echoes rare precedents such as the Togo withdrawal 2010 AFCON, though this case carries far greater significance as it involves a final.
Romano reported:
BREAKING: Morocco have been announced as AFCON winners with final result overturned by CAF. Senegal have been declared to have forfeited the match with Morocco declared 3-0 winners by official statement. CAF statement tonight.

Morocco had earlier threatened to escalate the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if no action was taken, insisting they were unfairly treated. Meanwhile, FIFA confirmed it would not intervene, leaving jurisdiction entirely to CAF.
The verdict has sparked widespread debate, with critics questioning AFCON’s credibility, while supporters argue the ruling enforces discipline and respect for tournament regulations.
