Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandez has taken full responsibility for the missed penalty against Fulham during the Premier League match-day 2 encounter, Softfootball reports.
The Red Devils missed the chance of winning their first game of the season as they played out a 1-1 draw. Bruno had the opportunity of giving Man United the lead but blazed over from the penalty spot before the break.
Interestingly , it was Bruno’s first miss from 12 yards in a Manchester United shirt since December 2023, a run that has stretched back over 11 successful efforts.

The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder in the post match interview shared on Manchester United’s official club media explained that he was upset after after referee Chris Kavanagh bumped into him before the penalty kick but insisted that it wasn’t enough excuse for missing.
Bruno explained:
“That’s not the excuse to missing the penalty, I just had a very bad hit on the ball.
“I took my foot too under the ball and that’s why the ball ended up going over the bar.”
He went on to say that Manchester United created enough chances to win the match but didn’t manage to do so.
He said:
“The game was there for us, I think we created some chances, we had our opportunities to win the game.
“We put ourselves in front and then we end up conceding a goal from something we were controlling very well during the full game.
“For us, it’s very frustrating not to get a win today.”
Manchester United return to action in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday to face Grimsby Town before returning to Old Trafford to play newly promoted Burnley in the Premier League next Saturday. And Bruno believes his would improve.
He said:
“It’s normal [the external noise about not winning in the first two games of the season], when you play for Man United, you know what’s about, you know the noise that is going to be about for anything and everything.
“You just have to get used to that, to understand what you have to do to improve yourself and the team and help the team to win games.”
Manchester United finished 15th in the premier league last season and will hope to do better this term but so far, they have only one point from two matches.
