Now, United appear to be rebuilding another run. They have secured a 1-0 away win over Everton and followed it up with a 2-1 home victory against Crystal Palace. That leaves three more matches standing between Ilett and his long-awaited haircut.

The remaining fixtures will be against Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and AFC Bournemouth.

Should United manage to win all three, the five-match streak will finally be complete — and Frank Ilett’s patience, and hair, may at last be trimmed.
