Borussia Dortmund and Sebastian Kehl have mutually agreed to part ways, bringing an end to his tenure as sporting director, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano via his x handle.
Romano stated:
Borussia Dortmund and Sebastian Kehl have mutually agreed to end their working relationship. This decision was reached by mutual consent on Sunday between the BVB management and the former sporting director.
His departure comes shortly after Dortmund confirmed key squad developments, including captain Emre Can signing a one-year contract extension until June 2027, and highly rated defender Luca Reggiani agreeing his first professional deal, keeping him at the club until 2030.

Softfootball understands that The decision was reached by mutual consent on Sunday between club management and Kehl, who had been part of Dortmund’s leadership structure since joining the professional department in 2018.
During his time in an executive role, he helped the club secure the DFB-Pokal in 2021 and oversaw their run to the UEFA Champions League final in 2024.
Kehl also enjoyed a distinguished playing career at Dortmund, spending 13 years at the club, winning three Bundesliga titles and playing a key role in their historic domestic double in 2012. Across all roles, he made 748 appearances for the club.
