Softfootball understands that Bologna booked their place in the Supercoppa Italiana final after edging past Inter Milan in a nerve-shredding penalty shootout at the King Saud University Stadium in Saudi Arabia. Softfootball predicted an Inter Milan victory in the pregame report.
It was dramatic, messy at times, emotional, and ultimately historic for the Rossoblù. Bologna heads to the Supercoppa final against Napoli, who defeated AC Milan 2-0 yesterday.
Bologna celebrated this victory via their official X account.

Inter could hardly have asked for a better start. With just two minutes on the clock, Alessandro Bastoni delivered a pinpoint cross from the left, and Marcus Thuram met it sweetly on the volley. The finish was pure class, flashing past Federico Ravaglia for his ninth goal of the season and setting the tone for what looked like an Inter-controlled night.
But Bologna didn’t fold. They settled into the contest and began to find space, with Federico Bernardeschi forcing Josep Martínez into a sharp save midway through the first half.

The real turning point arrived after the half-hour mark, when VAR intervened to punish a Yann Bisseck handball. Riccardo Orsolini stepped up, showed zero nerves, and smashed the penalty straight down the middle.
Inter nearly responded immediately. Federico Dimarco’s shot took a wicked deflection off Jhon Lucumí and drifted agonisingly wide, one of those moments that felt important, even then.
The second half opened up even more. Chances came in waves. Ravaglia was called into action repeatedly, denying Dimarco and Luis Henrique, while Bologna’s defence bent but didn’t break.

A controversial moment followed when Inter were initially awarded a penalty for a challenge on Ange-Yoan Bonny, only for VAR to again step in and reverse the decision. Cue frustration. Lots of it.
Later on, Inter pushed harder. Lautaro Martínez was denied at the near post, Bastoni headed wide from close range, and still the breakthrough refused to come. Bologna even threatened to steal it in stoppage time, but Martínez rescued Inter with a big save from Giovanni Fabbian.

Ciro Immobile converted the decisive kick as Bologna won the shootout 3–2. Ravaglia was immense, saving two penalties and writing his name into club folklore.
