Softfootball understands that Boca Juniors have confirmed their interest in signing Paulo Dybala ahead of the 2026 season, with the Argentine club closely monitoring the forward’s contract situation at Roma.
As reported by sport expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X account, Dybala is due to become a free agent in June 2026, and Boca see a possible opportunity to bring the former Juventus attacker back to La Bombonera if things line up properly.

He said:
Boca Juniors dream of Paulo Dybala as target for 2026 but no talks are taking place at this stage over January move. Dybala’s priority is to stay at Roma this season, then assess his future ahead of summer 2026 with contract due to expire.
Club director Marcelo Delgado admitted the idea sits somewhere between a dream, an illusion, and an actual plan. With the contract ticking down, the club believes the timing could work, even if it still feels far away.
Money, however, remains the biggest issue. Boca cannot match European wages. For any move to happen, Dybala would need to accept a heavy salary reduction.

It’s a big sacrifice, and one that makes the whole situation uncertain. Still, Boca are hoping emotion counts for something, not just figures on paper.
Leandro Paredes adds another layer to the story. The midfielder returned to Boca in July 2025 and has settled in quickly, becoming important both on and off the pitch. Paredes, a close friend and World Cup-winning teammate of Dybala, has openly said he would like to see him in Buenos Aires.

For now, Dybala, who recently turned 32, is not planning any early exit. Reports suggest he has no intention of leaving Roma in January 2026 and remains focused on completing the season with the Italian club. Any decision on his future is expected to come after the campaign ends, when talks could resume.
Dybala’s current contract runs until June 30, 2026, allowing him to negotiate with foreign clubs from January. Roma have slowed renewal discussions due to wage demands and injury concerns, with the forward missing seven matches so far this season.

The player has managed just one goal in ten Serie A appearances this season, including missing a crucial penalty in Roma’s 1-0 defeat to AC Milan in Serie A, plus two Europa League games where he scored once.
A new deal from Roma is still possible if form and fitness return. If not, Boca Juniors will stay ready, waiting with hope, patience, and a touch of belief.
