Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has named Arsenal forward Kai Havertz as the current player who reminds him most of himself.

Berbatov, who was famous for his elegance, close control, and calmness on the ball, believes Havertz has a similar style of play. The Bulgarian often drifted through games before producing moments of real quality, and he sees some of those same traits in the Arsenal star.

Speaking in an interview with Futbin, Berbatov said Havertz’s movement and technical quality remind him of his own playing days.

Kai Havertz used to play for Leverkusen, I used to play for Leverkusen,

Berbatov said.

I like him as a player, he has that flair, sometimes floating into the games and that’s why it reminds me a bit of myself. Although I don’t like comparing players from different generations, I like watching him, to be honest.

Havertz has become an important player for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta and has continued to deliver key performances in their Premier League title push. The German forward recently scored for the seventh successive home game, equalling Robin van Persie’s feat from 2012, as Arsenal came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1.

He also fired Arsenal past Burnley in a crucial Premier League clash, further proving his importance to the Gunners as they continue to chase the title.

Arsenal remain close to league leaders Liverpool, who are expected to visit the Emirates after the international break in what could be a major fixture in the title race.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has given an injury update on Havertz amid Arsenal’s push for the Premier League crown. The Arsenal manager will be hoping the German forward remains fit, especially with his goals and all-round performances becoming increasingly important to the team.

For Berbatov, Havertz’s calm style, flair, and ability to influence matches make him one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the modern game.
