Gabriel Martinelli’s future at Arsenal has come under the spotlight once again, with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich now showing interest in the Brazilian winger. According to reports from Germany, Bayern are exploring a move as they look to replace Leroy Sane, who recently departed for Galatasaray.
Martinelli has been a mainstay at the Emirates since arriving from Ituano in 2019, amassing over 220 appearances and consistently hitting the 40-game mark in recent seasons. However, Arsenal’s persistent pursuit of a new winger has sparked speculation that the 23-year-old could be deemed surplus to requirements in the coming months.
The Gunners recently lost out on top target Nico Williams to Barcelona, but they continue to be linked with the likes of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke. Any new signing would add stiff competition on the flanks, where Bukayo Saka remains undroppable on the right, leaving Martinelli’s position under review.

Although Martinelli is under contract until 2027 following an extension signed earlier this year, Arsenal would reportedly entertain offers of at least £50 million. Despite interest from Bayern, the player has previously expressed his strong commitment to Arsenal, calling the club his “home” and stating his desire to stay in north London.
Nevertheless, Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn recently hinted that a summer sale wouldn’t be a shock, citing Martinelli’s inconsistent form last season and the potential need for fresh competition on the left wing.
Bayern’s new manager Vincent Kompany is targeting wide reinforcements and has also shown interest in Liverpool duo Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo. Barcelona were also linked with Martinelli before prioritising their successful pursuit of Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.
While Arsenal remain in a strong position regarding negotiations, the decision may ultimately come down to whether Mikel Arteta is ready to cash in on Martinelli and push ahead with a restructured frontline.
