After announcing that their playmaker Jamal Musiala will be out for months due to an horrific injury he sustained at the FIFA Club World Cup game against PSG, Bayern Munich are looking to bring in Xavi Simons as cover ahead of the new season.
Softfootball was informed that the German Bundesliga champions have made enquiry about the midfielder. The club announced that Musiala will be out till November which could stretch to December if his recovery is not going as expected.
According to Goal, Bayern are furious to have missed out on Florian Wirtz, who would have been the perfect replacement but the German international instead joined Liverpool.
Bayern were also handed another setback as winger target, Nico Williams shocked them by committing his future to his club in Bilbao. The Bundesliga giants are now chasing the 22-year-old Simons, who wants to leave Leipzig just six months after joining permanently from Paris Saint-Germain.
Injuries limited Simons’ playing time last season, but he still recorded 11 goals and eight assists. Across two years in Germany, Simons has racked up 44 goal contributions in 76 games and with these numbers, Kompany and his board are ready to bring the Dutch to the capital.
With Jamal Musiala injured, Leroy Sane and Mathys Tel having left the club alongside long serving legend, Thomas Muller, Bayern’s attacking depth has thinned and the club are looking to bag a European trophy alongside the Bundesliga in the coming season.
Bayern are also after winger, Luis Diaz from Liverpool and have, as reported by Softfootball, submitted a bid for the Colombian. They have submitted a €52m (£44.7m) bid for 28-year-old Liverpool and Colombia winger Luis Diaz.
The club are now looking for a suitable winger after Nico Williams who they were courting signed an 8-year contract extension with his club Athletic Bilbao. Kompany’s side are determined to sign Luis Diaz this summer however, they will not overpay for the Liverpool winger amid interest from Barcelona who were left stranded by Nico Williams as well.
