Softfootball reports that FC Barcelona have officially withdrawn from the European Super League project, marking the end of their involvement in the controversial competition launched in 2021. The decision was announced by the club today as confirmed via their official X handle, with Barcelona also notifying the European Super League Company and the remaining clubs of their withdrawal.
In their official statement, they stated that:
FC Barcelona hereby announces that today it has formally notified the European Super League Company and the clubs involved of its withdrawal from the European Super League project

Barcelona’s exit follows Juventus’ departure from the project in 2023, leaving Real Madrid as the only major club still publicly associated with the initiative. The move is widely seen as a step that will allow Barcelona to fully refocus on domestic competitions, particularly La Liga, while continuing efforts toward financial recovery and long-term stability.
Still on Barcelona, head coach Hansi Flick recently spoke about his strong working relationship with sporting director Deco. In an interview, Flick highlighted the mutual trust and shared football philosophy between both men, noting that their alignment makes collaboration smooth and effective as the club rebuilds.
Elsewhere, Leeds United boosted their Premier League survival hopes with an impressive 3–1 victory over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on Friday night. The result was a timely response after Leeds had suffered a home defeat to Arsenal in their previous outing, restoring confidence and momentum in their fight to stay up.
