Barcelona Dominate Osasuna at Home to Stay Top of LaLiga

Softfootball understands that despite a tough beginning, Barcelona finally managed to get the breakthrough as they beat Osasuna 2-0 at home, stretching their lead at the top of LaLiga to seven points.

The win halted Osasuna’s short two-game winning run and kept Barça flying high, particularly at home, where they’ve now won eight straight games this season, recently defeating Real Betis 5-3 and Atlético Madrid 3-1 to maintain their position at the top of the table.

The first half wasn’t exactly entertaining for the hosts. Osasuna packed their defence with five at the back, and it made finding gaps really tricky.

Alejandro Balde made a brilliant run and nearly set up Ferran Torres, while Marcus Rashford seemed to think he won a penalty, but it never came. Osasuna had a couple of good chances too, with Ante Budimir shooting straight at Joan García twice, missing what could’ve been a dream start.

Barcelona kept pressing, though. Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Eric García all tried long-range shots, testing Osasuna’s keeper Sergio Herrera. Ferran Torres thought he gave Barça the lead with a header, but VAR ruled it out for offside near the corner. Frustrations piled up when Ferran’s overhead kick went just wide before halftime.

The deadlock finally broke with about 20 minutes to go. Raphinha smashed a thumping finish to put Barcelona ahead and later tapped in a second after Herrera had made a crucial save from Lamine Yamal. From then on, Barça controlled the game, limiting Osasuna to rare counters and patiently closing out the result.

For Osasuna, it’s a setback. Their first defeat in four matches sees them level on points with Girona in the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Barcelona continues its solid run of form in LaLiga, showing creativity, patience, and finishing when it really matters.

This is a tough day for Osasuna but a satisfying one for Barça and a reminder of why they’re still top of the table.
