Following Barcelona recent 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad and a 2-0 victory against Racing Santander, Slavia nearly caught Barcelona off guard early on. Tomás Chory fired just over following an uncharacteristic error from Gerard Martín, while Fermín López had a chance at the other end.

But the breakthrough came in the 10th minute when a Slavia corner caused confusion in the Barça box. After a clever flick from Tomás Holes, Vasil Kušej bundled the ball over the line for Slavia’s first Champions League goal in five matches.

Despite their early energy, the home side struggled to contain Barcelona’s growing rhythm. In the 34th minute, a sharp move down the middle saw Frenkie de Jong feed Fermín López, who slotted a precise finish into the right-hand corner to level the scores.

Slavia responded again right before halftime when Robert Lewandowski, in an unfortunate twist, headed an own goal from a corner, making it 2-2 and setting the stage for a tense second half.

Barcelona came out with intent after the break. Pedri nearly restored the lead immediately, and although Frenkie de Jong had a goal disallowed for offside, Raphinha’s chance went over as the visitors pressed hard.

Dani Olmo curled a beautiful right-footed strike into the top corner just three minutes after coming on. Lewandowski redeemed his earlier misfortune in the 70th minute, meeting a drilled Marcus Rashford cross to seal the win for the Spanish champions.

The victory strengthens Barcelona’s record against Czech sides in the Champions League, now standing at eight wins from nine encounters .

It also keeps their hopes of automatic qualification alive ahead of the final group-stage clash at home to Copenhagen. For Slavia, the season now continues for pride only, with their final match against Paphos in Cyprus.
