Softfootball reports that Atalanta has sealed the signing of Nikola Krstović from Lecce in a deal worth up to €30 million, with the agreement finalised on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
The 25-year-old Montenegrin striker will undergo his medical within the next 48 hours before signing a long-term contract with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

The transfer is structured around a €25m fixed fee, with a further €5m linked to performance-based bonuses. For Lecce, who only signed Krstović from DAC Dunajská Streda two years ago, the sale represents one of the biggest outgoing deals in their history.
Atalanta had initially targeted Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz, but quickly moved on after the London club demanded €50m for the Brazilian. That shift in strategy opened the door for Krstović, who netted 11 goals and added five assists across 37 Serie A appearances last season.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on his official X account, writing:
“Nikola Krstović to Atalanta, here we go! Deal signed right now with agents and clubs.
Lecce receive €25m fixed fee plus add-ons, Krstović signs long term deal at the club ready for UCL football.”
For Krstović, the switch is a natural next step. He had been vocal about wanting to test himself at a higher level, and Atalanta’s regular Champions League qualification made the Bergamo club an attractive destination.
Gasperini’s track record of developing strikers from Duván Zapata to Rasmus Højlund also played a role in convincing the player.

From Lecce’s perspective, the sale was both inevitable and strategic. Club directors knew they were sitting on one of their most valuable assets and held firm on their €30m valuation, resisting interest earlier in the summer.
Lecce’s hierarchy was hoping for an auction to drive up the price, but Atalanta’s swift move effectively ended that possibility.
Krstović is expected to be available for Atalanta’s Serie A opener this weekend, giving fans an early glimpse of a striker they hope can spearhead another push for European football.
