Florian Wirtz is beginning to make his mark at Liverpool after a slow start to life at Anfield following his British-record £116m move from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
The German midfielder played a key role in Saturday’s emphatic 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United, contributing a goal and an assist as the Reds cruised past the Magpies. It was another encouraging outing for the No.7, whose six goals for the club have all come in his last 10 appearances, a clear sign of growing confidence and adaptation.

Speaking to club media via the team’s official X handle, Wirtz made it clear that team success remains his main focus, he said:
I just enjoy it.It’s so easy to say but as long as I can help the team win games, I’m happy.
Then when you can celebrate your own goals, it’s always the best.
The Germany international also spoke warmly about his connection with Anfield and the supporters, suggesting he is starting to feel truly at home in Liverpool colours, he noted :
I always felt good here. I enjoy playing in this stadium with these fans.
Maybe you connect a little bit better, also with the fans, when they can see that you can score or that you are important for the team. I’m just happy to play here in front of the fans.
Wirtz’s recent upturn in form comes after Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk publicly urged patience with the midfielder earlier in the season. As previously reported by softfootball, Van Dijk consistently backed the German to shine once he settled into the Premier League, a prediction that is now starting to look spot on as Wirtz grows more influential with each passing game.
